The Results are In!

We received our November utility bill and even though this doesn't reflect a whole month (3 weeks) on our new cooling system, our savings are $328.77!

The power service the new cooling system runs on, also runs our office where we've had the heat on so this savings will rise once we duct the hot air into here to keep us warm.

Starting last night, our temperature here dropped to < 50 and since then, we've been at 100% economization. In fact, the damper that lets outside air is barley opened since the air outside is so cold. Saving money has never been so easy..

The picture above shows the temperature sensor in one of our cold isles. As you can see, it's smooth sailing at 71 degrees.

Economizer Real-Time Page

We've started a real-time economizer page which is located at:
http://www.redrocksdatacenter.com/index.php?pg=ae

This page shows in real time if we are cooling our data center with cool, filtered, mountain air. It also shows our immediate cost savings from the reduced power consumption for this Trane unit.

We've also put up a gallery showing some pictures of the new Trane unit: http://redrocksdatacenter.com/ae_gallery/

All done!

The unit is in, the duct work completed and we fired it up. Pretty amazing to have the vents right on each cold isle. I'll write more later but after measuring the power usage, it uses 9Amps at 208volts. This is lower than we originally expected. This is in full economization mode. When the first compressor is on, it goes to only 30Amps. Our current Leibert was using over 58Amps so even if we were using one compressor 24/7, we cut our cooling usage in 1/2. For the last few days, we've been at full economization from about 6pm to 9am. I'll include a full range of pictures this soon.
